Album cover design for Hiatus Kaiyote's newest studio album, Mood Valiant. I wanted to create a visual representation that encapsulated a feeling based on the lyrics of their track 'Red Room'.

"I got a red room, it is the red hour when the sun sets in my bedroom, it feels like I'm inside a flower"

This project ended up being a glimpse into what was happening around greater Sydney at that time where a lockdown was on the horizon. From my research and mind-mapping, I uncovered that album had quite a lot of emotion behind it with the lead singer having battled with breast cancer. For me the song that drove this project had this sense of understanding your current situation, showing courage in an uncertain time, and having the awareness to take the time to reflect and appreciate the simple things in life i.e. the beautiful colours of a sunrise/sunset in your room.

For me, this project took me on a creative journey that I’ve never really experienced before and It gives insights into me as an artist to what was happening around me at that time. Ultimately to show courage and take the time to reflect on the great things happening in life and to be grateful.
